How come some people have a big gap between their two front top teeth, I'm looking for a scientific answer

It's a sign they will travel. Ask them

How come some people have a big gap between their two front top teeth, I'm looking for a scientific answer
its not a scientific question.
Reply:teeth have shifted or they had one pulled and only part of it shifted. NFL player Michael Strahan is a good example, David Letterman less so. It is a diastama
Reply:Because their upper jaw is too large for their teeth to fill it up. So the teeth have room to separate from each other. That's not too hard to figure out. No scientific study really required.
Reply:It is because of evolution so we can floss better...lol
Reply:Genetics. These thingss usually run in a family and are, sadly, predominant in certain groups of people from certain areas. (This are factual statements.)
Reply:Well some people as kids sucked their thumb when they were little or had the bottle in their mouth for too long.

Its not scientific but its true lol
Reply:It's just the way they grow in. Maybe they sucked on the soother till the were 5.
Reply:Well I had a gap between my two front teeth once but thats only because they overlapped eachother and I had an appliance in my mouth that separated them and I had a HUGE gap but it closed up when I got my braces on...but its not really a scientific question its really just genetics and the crazy way things work ...ohh and its also caused by sucking your thumb
Reply:because hundreds of years ago we had to eat meat from dinosourse and we didn't like the meat getting stuck in our teeth so through evolution we developed gaps in our teeth to prevent this. and now in modern times some people have not evolved completely leaving these gaps.
Reply:There is a tendon that runs from up under your nose and down behind the upper lip, connecting to the roof of the mouth (pretty sure that's where it is).

This tendon is sometimes thick and pushes the teeth apart.

I know this because I have it myself.

It's remedied by having a procedure called a frenectomy, in which the tendon is cut. I'm due for mine in 2 months.

Sorry if I'm not too specific.
Reply:I think it's to do with thumb sucking or pacifier after a certain age
Reply:I had a gap between my teeth, my cousin has one, my dad has one, and all my aunts have one. Genetic.
Reply:My daughter has one, the orthodontist says it is the frenulum (?) muscle which is between the top two teeth. It has to be removed and braces have to be put on.
Reply:Like most physical features that keep showing up in peoples appearance, I suspect the answer lies in Genetics.
Reply:- Evolution works on a principle of diversity and likes to try lots of different things.

- Perhaps there where some errors made during early cell growth.

- Or maybe they like to place things between there teeth that has created a gap similar, but slower as the same principle that braces use to align teeth.
Reply:It could possibly be hereditary ( the positioning of the teeth as a result of the formation of the gums.)
Reply:Scientific Answer huh? I will say ...its Genetics then.
Reply:Usually its genetic as is much malocclusion.
Reply:Because they are related to madonna???
Reply:theres no scienctific answer for this question. but the reason why some people have a big gap because:

1) the suck there thumb and that pushes your teeth foward

2)their teeth have shifed some kind of way and that made a

gap

thats all i can help you with
