My dalamation's gums are like this big gray mass and her teeth are black, ideas on what it is?

If the teeth are black then they are dead. Sounds like gingivitis has formed on her gums. She needs this addressed asap! Gingivitis can lead to kidney and heart failure among other serious conditions!

You need to get to the vet! How long have they been like this?
Reply:Get her to the vet for a teeth cleaning and extractions!!! It sounds like advanced periodontal disease. This condition has been linked to organ failure and auto-immune diseases so PLEASE get her seen to today!!

Did you know that by the age of three more than 80% of dogs will have developed this condition? This is why it is so important to prevent it through correct/appropriate diet. Contrary to popular belief kibble does not clean teeth and tooth brushing is not necessary either. Feeding raw meaty bones and large chunks of meat will ensure that your dog will have clean sparkly teeth and healthy gums. The meat acts like floss, cleaning between the teeth, and massages the gums while the edible bones will scrape the plaque and tartar of the teeth. No need for toothbrushes or six monthly cleanings at the vet.
Reply:It is bad. Go to the vet as soon as you are able. Is either a massive infection or loss of blood supply to the mouth. Unless she chewed an ink pen or something, but I thought you meant something from the inside out, not a stain.
Reply:This is something you should be asking her vet! It doesn't sound good.
Reply:Have no idea, never heard anything like it, but my gut reaction is, this is d*** painful, I love my dog and I'm getting her to a Vet ASAP, and if I don't have the time or money she's going to a no-kill facility where they can make her pain stop
Reply:Black teeth mean they badly need cleaning but it may even be too late for this. Gray gums are either gum disease or it can be an idicator of several other things.

Take the dog to the vet tomorrow to set up having the teeth cleaned or if they need removing. The vet will direct you as to what tests he thinks are needed for the gum problem or whether he feels cleaning the teeth and keeping them clean will cure that problem.
Reply:easy fix! seriously this was tough for me to do but I have 4 shi-tzus and one in particular no matter how many dentals he gets I swear the next day his teeth start getting plac and yuck on them they are fed the best get the best, but still Duffy has awful teeth until I recently started him on raw chick necks, backs and just raw meat diet I was amazed in one week half the plac is gone, I have seen so many changes in all 4 dogs one had a terrible skin allergy and one ear always bothered him it is good now the mommy had an awful dry coat and dull and she seemed just old but now she is restling with the other dogs and her coat is not flaky and it is shinny, it is what they would eat in the wild or if they were just a little more out door dogs that is they would eat birds and little critters. I hope this is helpful
