I have really big front teeth & i was wondering if its possible to get them filed down to the size of the rest

of course you can, but you have to check it out with your dentist...and it's an operation which isn't very cheap (at least here in Italy..)

Yes, there are many dental options available these days.
Reply:My eyeteeth were a big long and very pointy and my dentist filed them down years ago. You need to be careful with this, though, because they will be removing some of the enamel and by doing that, you could end up with cavities so make sure you find out how to protect them once this is done.
Reply:yes u can but it is very painful and will become very sensetive at times but if it will make u feel much better than go ahead ;

no pain no gain
Reply:Like the others said, a dentist can do lots of cosmetic adjustments. How old are you? Are you still in a growth phase? Not to sound funny, but if you are still a kid, don't worry about it, you may grow "into" your teeth. When I was in about fourth grade, by teeth seemed enormous, but now I am an adult and have been complimented for years on my smile!
Reply:The teeth in their natural position should be at different lengths, we sometimes "file" a tooth down to match the others when one has been chipped or lost some of the enamel edge due to an accident.

This is a simple procedure without the use of any anesthetic. When this is done, we are only removing or smoothing the enamel without going into the dentin.

Doing this does not cause sensitivity or decay to happen any easier than it would normally. The teeth have many layers of enamel and we barely touch the surface when doing this procedure.

As stated earlier, if you haven't finished growing, it's best to wait as your teeth will continue to erupt, catching up with each other so to speak. Don't think you are the only one with this "problem," just look at other people when they smile. They will look better as you get older. File them down now and they will be too short later....better to wait.

A natural dentition shows the two front or central incisors as slightly larger and longer than the two laterals. They are never even, unless there has been an accident to the centrals or they have worn down.

It could be that you have a slight overbite or jet that makes the centrals appear even larger and longer. This may be something that your dentist can evaluate and give you advice about orthodontic treatment to correct. Usually if a patient notices a few teeth out of alignment on the anterior, then the molars and premolars are out of alignment as well.

It's something you should discuss with your dentist. He will be able to advise you on either filing or orthodontic treatment. Hope I've been of some help and good luck!
