My boyfriend has yellow teeth and bad breath. How should I tell him that it's a big problem? I'm a clean freak

We have good communication. But that just seems so mean? I am big on hygiene. I have great teeth. I've tried to hint it off, but no luck....I don't even want to kiss him sometimes.

Just tell him. It's bad for you, and it's bad for him. If he has bad breath, he probably has cavities all ready. They cause a stronger smell then just not-brushing. Some people have chronic bad breath but it's actually not something that happens often so odds are that he needs to see a dentist. Neglected cavities equals root-canal, removing teeth and large dentist bills. So bottom line it's a win-win situation for him to brush his teeth. Courage!





Just tell him you are worried about his health and that it's a strong turn-off for you. You might want to tell him you're not in the mood one or two times before the big conversation. This way, when you do talk about it, he will realize it's implications on your relation and that it's very real.





PS: the yellow colour can be genetic or caused by coffee and/or smoking. Brushing might not whiten his teeth without professional bleaching.

Reply:Try oral hygiene together. You brush his and he brushes yours. Or Just buy him a toothbrush and some toothpaste and tell him to go to work.

Reply:Get your teeth cleaned. Refer him to the same dentist, all the while, telling him how great it feels. Odds are, he needs dental work as well (bad breath often comes from cavities).

Reply:why not try buying him some listerine or some good thoothpaste and tell him you just tried it and really liked it and bought him some too....i dont know i hope it works out cos i know itz no fun to kiss someone wiht bad breathe.
Reply:Tell him, then tell him how you will help him. This will usually give them the push they need. If it does not help then either leave him, or don't but thats all I can help with

Reply:Dude yellow teeth are GROSS! How can you stand to kiss that dirty mouth. Tell him to go take a trip to the dentist. Hopefully they can help him with his problem. Buy him a good tooth brush, dental floss and some gum and some STRONG mouth wash.
Reply:If you have such a problem with it, why did you date him in the first place? Something attracted you to him, right? Don't sit and nit pick all his faults. If it's a "big problem" then maybe you should consider moving on and letting him find a woman who really appreciates him and doesn't want to change every little thing about him.

If it would help the relationship, then it's something worth saying. BUT if you want him to do this, and are willing to put your relationship on the line for something so shallow- do yourselves a favor and let him go, because you obviously aren't that serious. He might do it if he's in love with you, and you are in love with him. But don't be surprised if he's hurt and offended. People don't like hearing that something about them is offensive.
Reply:Tell him all about this guy from work "Make up a name" and tell him how he talks up close to everyone and his breath stinks bad..he really needs to floss cuz u can see all the plaque build up and his teeth are all stained yellow..tell him how gross and what a turn off it is. Use your judgment on how harsh you should be as you tell him about the fake man . Maybe this will make him think in the back of his mind that he better start taking his PH level more serious before someone like me captures ya with my pearly whites!! Good luck
Reply:send him to the dentist. explain ur problem just as uve given it here. if u love him tell him u do, so that he doesnt feel insecure. check out at the dentist or on sites what u can do to improve breath and make the teeth whiter.
Reply:hey tell him straight if you have good communication just say look sweetie i really care about you and your dental hygiene is just not healthy, you need to take better care of your teeth and gums you only get one permanent set. Or if that still is too bold for you buy him a sonicare or electric toothbrush , or plaque remover get yourself one too then say hey let's see if these things really work. or try switching the mouthwash with that stuff they give kids to show them how much plaque is on their teeth then when it turns his teeth colors be like OMG what is that on your teeth you need to brush them !!!! remember the male ego is fragile stroke it gently
Reply:Doesn't his dentist make suggestions to him? I really think you have to address it with him if it is so burdensome to you. But also try not to be too too obsessive in all areas. That can get nuts after a while. I think you are correct in your assessment in this case however. That can be such a turn off. Especially in the bedroom.

Reply:Then don't!! This does seem like a problem and I'm curious as to how you were even attracted to him in the first place. Bad oral hygiene is probably an indicator as to his hygiene in general. You might as well be dating a guy with dentures, and if he keeps those bad habits up it may not be long before that's the case. If you like this guy though, tell him that you're concerned that he could have gum disease or some other issue. If he hasn't visited a dentist in awhile or have a dentist that he can schedule an appt. with that will tell you what you need to know. Don't rescue him....just end things and find someone that does practice good oral hygiene. Good Luck
