And now it feel funny, like its dry and suctiony. I have been rinsing with salt water and you can see the bone still.
*THESE ARE NOT WISDOM TEETH!
I had two big teeth in the back pulled 3 days ago, when will the pain stop?
It could still hurt for up to a week. Call your dentist that removed the tooth and have him or her call you in a prescription for pain medication. If it is still hurting as badly by Monday then call your dentist and go in to see him or her again as it could possibly be a dry socket, in which case he or she will need to pack it with medicated gauze in order for it to heal.
In the meantime, make sure you are only eating soft foods and don't do anything that requires a sucking action such as smoking, drinking through a straw or sucking on hard candies. Avoid things with citric acid in them such as oranges and tomatoes as this could further irritate the area. Also, try to avoid talking as much as possible.
Reply:Ihad some pulled, it should stop in 5 days to a week, sometimes more.
It helps if you rinse it with cold water or eat something cold like ice cream.
Reply:You still have a dry socket if the packing or clots have come out. I'v had many teeth lost and pulled and let me tell you it might hurt for a week or more! Be careful with your rinsing. GWS
Reply:Sounds like a dry socket. dont use straws for drinking, and dont smoke. Rest and make sure to take our pain meds.
Reply:Above answers are right on target. It takes at least a week. All healing is accompanied by pain. Don't play with the area, with tongue, just leave it be and keep using the salt water as long as the wound is open. Generally you only need the salt water for first three days. Ibuprofin should help, it reduces any swelling, if your not allergic that is. Place a warm compress to the outside of the cheek, it will soothe the area too. You'll be feeling good in no time.
Reply:If your dentist did this in ten minutes or less, not counting the time spent waiting for anesthesia to set in, then it should stop by the next 48 hours.
If your dentist was new and worked a long time (this can be 2 hours or more for incompetent) you will have pain for significantly longer.
It is important to keep your mouth clean to prevent inflammation and infection while healing. Avoid sweets altogether -- they are food for germs which can infect the raw area.
Rinse your mouth out after all food. Use a warm salt water mouthwash. At bedtime use Cepacol mouthwash.
Avoid candy. Drink V8 juice and take 500 mgm Vitamin C daily during the healing process. Drink Orange Juice containing added calcium, eat some oatmeal and spinach, avoid Fritos and very hard-edged cruncy stuff.
If you use chewing gum, switch to sugar free.
Take Aleve or Tylenol to lessen the pain, but the most important part is following the previous instructions.
Reply:Maybe you had infection? Talk to dentist again.
