Big question about wisdom teeth?

I'm getting put to sleep, I'm getting my mouth numb, then the guy is cutting my wisdom teeth out. He told me he would give me painkillers for the days after. I'm so scared It's gonna hurt bad. Is it a stinging feeling the after pain? What does the pain afterwards feel like? Is it too much to handle? Help here.. I'm getting this done monday =[

Big question about wisdom teeth?
I had mine out. I was also put out. 1st they gave me gas, then they gave me Novocain, and lastly they gave me a general (sodium pendathol ?) I'm actually not sure what the general was.

In any case, when you come out of it, you will not be in pain because the Novocain will still be working. They will give you a prescription pain killer for the next few days. Nothing brutal. I would say more discomfort than pain.
Reply:Calm down, I am the biggest baby there is when it comes to my mouth and I had this proceedure, the drugs they will give you will keep your pain very minimal.

If I could do it , you can.
Reply:i just got mine done this morning and i am fine. you wont die, dont listen to the video they show you before hand of all the complications. your mouth will be a little sore and swollen, but for the most part i feel great.
Reply:When I woke up afterwards I was very numb and disoriented. I cried a lot when I woke up, which was a side effect of the medication. It only hurt really bad for about a half an hour (the time between when I got home and my mom was able to get me my prescription medication). They usually prescribe you pretty strong stuff, so that takes care of the pain. You just have to be careful because if it has codeine or something similar, after a couple of days it can make you very nauseous and I elected to stop taking it after a few days.
Reply:Are your wisdom teeth causing problems for you?? Is that why you are getting them removed. My dentist told me I should get mine removed, I havent to this day because they arent causing any problems for me. I say leave them there unless there is a valid reason to get them pulled.
Reply:I had two of my wisdom teeth removed and frankly, i did not take the painkiller the dentist gave me. I am the kind of person who is scared of injections and so i think the pain to me, is at the very low end of the scale.
Reply:lol dont be scared ..your gonna be fine ..with the painkillers im sure you wont have any pain after ..just make sure not to smoke or drink liqour and listen to all the docters instructions
Reply:You'll feel a very small pinch in the arm, then gradually drift off. Most people wake up saying, "When are you going to start?" Your mouth will be numb, and you'll be biting on gauze. When you get home, take the gauze out to eat something (milkshakes, applesauce, yogurt-stick with soft, cold foods, but no straws!) then start your pain meds before the numbness wears off. Keep replacing the gauze every 45 minutes until you just see a little pink on it...if you swallow blood it can upset your stomach. Ice bags applied to your cheeks during the 1st 12 hours will help minimize swelling, which usually peaks 48-72 hours after surgery. Usually there isn't very much pain at all, but if it starts to feel more achy around the 3rd day, you may have a dry socket. Go back to the office, they can place a medicated dressing that makes it feel totally better! Please don't worry!
Reply:Only have your wisdom teeth out by an oral %26amp; maxillofacial surgeon, then everything will be okay. Go to http://oceansurgical.com.au/ to find out mroe on specialist wisdom teeth removal.
