I Have Feeder Mice Which Have Long Teeth To. I Also Have a Wired Cage, Even Though I Put In Toys I Find They Always Enjoy Chomping On The Wire Cage. I Also Got Them An Edible Hut From Walmart And They Enjoy chewing It.
I Have Noticed Hampsters And Mice Are Very Similar.
My hamster has big teeth and he never chews on stuff like wood or plastic HELP!!!?
send him to the vet and he/she will trim the teeth then give him some hard treats to gnaw on or w/e advice from your vet
Reply:take her to vet so she can trim his teeth, his teeth wil contunie to grow and he will die.
Reply:He needs vet help right now, if his teeth are too big for him to chew. I have seen what happens when a rabbit's teeth grow too long. We had one turned into the shelter I worked at and he wouldn't eat, so I looked at his teeth. They looked like and ancor they wher both turned up like J's. The poor bunny, it was too late to trim his teeth and he had to be euthinized. I have heard that hamsters teeth can grow up into there skulls killing them. If you cannot afford the vet, then please turn him over to an animal rescue!
Reply:Why don't you make it chew on wood? You know, rub it's teeth like sand-paper!
Reply:If he's not eating- take him to a vet, he needs to get his teeth filed down. Personally, I have always given my rodents dog bones. It sounds weird, but I read it in a Mouse book once- and they love it. And it has protein in it. And it's rock hard, so it kept their teeth low, which was good, because they never bothered with those wooden blocks you are suppose to put in their cage. I always use the Medium sized regular flavor Milkbones.
Reply:Try getting him a chew toy with treats in the center that way he will want to chew on it to get the treats.
Reply:You can go to the pet store and either get a dog bone or chew toys made for hamsters.
Good Luck
Reply:a lot of pet stores sell chew sticks
if there is a pet co near you go there and got hamsteroids
mine LOVE them
Reply:Your hamster NEEDS to chew on wood, or toilet paper rolls. This helps to keep their teeth at the right size. My gerbil has overgrown teeth because my dad dropped him once when he was taking a picture of him. He dropped about three feet. One tooth bent backwards, eventuallly it came back to the front, but you should definately take your gerbil to the vet, and see what they can do for him or her. If you don't think it is that serious, just look online to see what you can do.
Reply:have the vet trim them
